When Anxiety Meets FAITH: You Don't Have To Pretend You're Okay

Sometimes our minds race, our hearts feel heavy, and even prayer seems difficult. We want to trust God, but anxiety, fear, and overwhelming thoughts can make it hard to find peace.

For many Christians, anxiety carries an added burden of guilt. We wonder, "If I had more faith, would I feel better?" But anxiety is not proof that you are weak, faithless, or that God is distant.

Prayer isn't about pretending everything is okay. It's about bringing our fears, questions, and struggles honestly before God. Sometimes the simplest prayer is the most meaningful: "God, I am afraid. Please stay close to me and help me take the next step."

It's also important to remember that faith and professional counseling are not competing paths. God can work through prayer, supportive relationships, healthy boundaries, and compassionate counseling to help us understand our anxiety and move toward healing.

You don't have to wait until your anxiety disappears to experience God's presence. And you don't have to face it alone.
